Summary

This Book of Hours was produced in Paris around 1480. It contains a calendar, in French (fols. 1r-6v), followed by the Hours of the Virgin for the Use of Paris (7r-54v), and the Penitential Psalms, Litany, and Prayers (fols. 55r-69v). The text ends with a rubric for the Hours of the Cross, indicating that the volume originally contained additional sections. The two large miniatures, introducing the Hours of the Virgin (fol. 7r) and the Penitential Psalms (fol. 55r) are in the style of the Master of Jacques de Besançon (tentatively identified with François le Barbier fils), who was active in Paris in the last two decades of the fifteenth century.
