Summary

Gilbert Tennent (1703-1764) was an Irish-American Presbyterian clergyman, and one of the leaders of the Great Awakening. Tennent begins this sermon, "On God's love in the redemption by Christ's death," by citing Romans 5:8, 1 John 4:9, and John 3:16. From dates noted in the manuscript, it looks like Tennent wrote this sermon in 1748 or 1749, then delivered it again in 1758 and 1760.
