Summary
Gilbert Tennent (1703-1764) was an Irish-American Presbyterian clergyman, and one of the leaders of the Great Awakening. Tennent begins this sermon, "On the manifold wisdom of God in the business of salvation," by citing Ephesians 3:10, Psalms 85:10, 1 Corinthians 1:24, Matthew 11:19, and 1 Corinthians 2:7. From dates noted in the manuscript, it looks like Tennent wrote this sermon in 1748 or 1749, then delivered it again in 1749 or 1750, 1751, 1752, 1755, 1757, and 1760.
