Notes

• Persian letter addressed to G. G. Ducarel written on behalf of Sharaf un-Nisa's three brothers, detailing their grievances since the departure of Ducarel and Sharaf un-Nisa. They say that promises made to them were not kept, as the people in India in charge of distributing their promised income and land have not fulfilled their duties. The brothers claim they are approaching death and implore Ducarel to get in touch with his contacts in India to sort out these "shames, a hundred shames."
